The Partiologist: Ladybug Picnic Part III

Ladybug Picnic Part III

I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend and are ready for the last of my Indoor Picnic photos. Today I'm taking you through my rock garden, I consider this to be my gardening for the year.

Chocolate Rock Garden

Started with the rocks I had outside.

After washing them off, okay, I had my husband wash them, I brought them inside and piled them on my counter and added some grass and little paper roses.

Okay, now look closely, the leaves connected to the round tins are actually filled with little chocolate rocks!

And not only do they look like rocks they really are chocolate!

Here's a close up.

Can you believe those are chocolate?

When I found them I knew I had to use them in some way.

And if you're going to build a rock garden, chocolate is the way to go!

I just made little leaves to match the décor.

On the island, I filled galvanized containers with artificial flowers...poppies, sunflowers, daisies and cattails.

Next to the flowers are a watering can, pail and tray of more treats!

I found gingham checked boxes to put the Smore's in.

I under baked them so I changed the name to Oooey, Gooey, Sticky, Chewy Smore's Bars!

In the pail were homemade chewy granola bars.

I put them in little bags and tied a ribbon with a tag that read:

"Once, Twice, Three Times a Lady Bug"!

We could finally grab a little something to nibble on until we were seated.

Here's the metal Ant holding the watermelon.

People kind of looked at me weird when I was fitting watermelons in the ant at the grocery store!

ANT Kim's Fruit Salad.

And the Deviled Mediterranean Ladies (Eggs).

Usually I pipe the filling in with a pastry bag, but this recipe called for olives and capers and they kept getting stuck, so I used a little cookie scoop ~

I think it's time for lunch!

Our Menu.

Would you believe that I forgot to take a photo of my table?

Well, lucky for me a friend brought her camera and had taken one, I was so happy!

Here are a few of the details - Of course everyone got a cookie .

And I decorated little boxes with a tag that read: "Once a Lady, Always a Lady!"

I think mine should have read "Once a nut, always a nut!"

They were filled with Chocolate Coconut Cheesecake Bars.

I made a lady bug out of butter - from a mold that was really not meant to put butter in!

I have no idea what it was for, but when I saw a ladybug, I just bought it.

And I had to keep it covered...away from all the ants!

Each glass had a ant hanging on the side holding the name tag.

This was the friend with her camera!!  Yea Joan!

Oh, and here's MY name tag.

Yep, that's me. at least for the day!

On the center of the table I put a tree, really it was an Easter tree I found at Williams Sonoma.

I added a new pot and moss ~

And lots of Ladybugs and ribbon!

Then, we needed grass for our little baskets to sit on.

Yes, I put all their Ants in one Basket!

  5. Oh this was sooooooooooo cool to look at! I visually gobbled up every picture! I know what you mean by "when I saw ladybug, I just bought it" - I do the same when I am shopping for a party..... if it has ANYTHING do to with the theme, I'll buy it and figure out how I'm going to use it later! lol!
I love the whole concept of your indoor picnic - so much better to party with plastic ants than real ones!! Thanks so much for sharing!
