The Partiologist: Zebra Christmas Party - III

Zebra Christmas Party - III

Do you sometimes feel like you're riding the train to CRAZY with only ten days left until Christmas? I decided to get off that train or ENJOY the ride.  Well, my ride began at 3:00 this morning.  Not that I'm stressed, maybe just excited.  Every night when I go to bed, I just wish it were morning so I could get up and start my day.  Do you ever feel that way?  (Maybe I am on the Crazy Train)  Since I was up and had some "free" time, I decided to show you more of my Zebra Christmas Party!

Rice Krispie Christmas Tree

This tree was inspired by a cake from bubble and sweet.

Oh Crispy Tree, Oh Crispy Tree!

This is how I made it...

Follow the directions on the side of the box.

Press in greased Doll Skirt Pan (or any deep circular pan).

Refrigerate until firm and flip it out.

Now pretend you are a Potter (NOT as in Harry) and shape in a cone.

Give it a then coat of frosting and roll out a strip of white fondant.

Cut in a long even strip - I use my "Baking" ruler and Pizza cutter!

Next, roll out a green strip.

Then I cut into perfect little strips with my herb mincer.

Lay a little green strip on the end on the white strip and roll together.

Start making your ruffle.

Begin wrapping around the "Crispy Cake".

Pipe on a edge of frosting to stick the ruffle to.

Do this fifteen hundred times until you get to the top.  (Maybe not quite that many time, but it might feel that way!)

For the little piece on the top, cut out two circles in the green fondant and a white circle in the white.

Remove the middle green circle, insert the white circle and roll together.

This will cover the top!  I made some green snowflakes to sprinkle around the cake and use as a topper.

Two snowflakes pressed together with a wooden pick in the middle for the top.

Gotta run catch that train!

  3. Very pretty. What do you mean by give it a thin coat of frosting? So the fondant sticks to it? Thanks.

    1. I thought that the thin coating of frosting would help seal the rice crispy tree to keep it fresh. I really don't think that you would even need to do that. Just pipe the frosting on to stick the fondant too.

  6. Hey I just saw this. How fun that you made it with rice krispy treats, must be easier than carving the cake ;)
