The Partiologist: Under The Big Top!

Under The Big Top!

The show must go on.  Since the invitation read "Under The Big Top", I wanted to have some sort of  "Big Top" over my table for the five ring circus.  And my wish came true, thanks to Oriental Trading!  It was the easiest table decor ever and worked perfect to help display fifteen kinds of Circus treats!

Circus Tent of Goodies!

Do you see BOZO on the top of the middle display?  He's a Rice Krispie Treat.  And I made him.  Okay, I said the tent was easy, not the Krispie Clown!

Isn't he cute?  Please tell me he is cute.
 I started thinking I would make a tutorial~

After trying a gazillion ways, this is how I made Bozo's ruffle.  I know that there must be an easier way, but this was my way.  Then I formed a GIANT round krispie ball.  Put a small layer of frosting and then started covering it in fondant. trying to get it smooth.  That's when I decided to stop taking photos because how could I do a tutorial if I didn't even know what I was doing!!

What I can tell you is...his nose is a circle of fondant formed over styrofoam.  I formed his hat in a bowl, also over styrofoam.  Hair is frosting, eyes and mouth are hand cut fondant.  The flower is also fondant stuck with frosting on a wire.  However long it took, I liked how he turned out.
And he loved being the center of attention!

I made the yummiest Chocolate Chunk Banana Cookies.
Packaged them up in cute little bags.
Time For A Treat~

You'd have to be a STRONG MAN not to eat them!
If you don't believe me - make them!  The recipe is from Martha.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup whole-wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup mashed ripe banana (about 1 large)
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped into 1/4-inch chunks
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts (about 2 ounces), toasted
Another take home treat were the Blueberry Muffins.
This recipe is in my vault.

Loaded with fresh blueberries and lots of lovin' crumbs on top, then packaged in a Big Top box from Oriental Trading.

So Many Freaks Treats...Too Few Circuses!

  1. This is awesome! I am the same way about taking photos. I just start using crazy things around my kitchen to make things work and then realize later on that other things would have worked out a lot better. You did a great job!

  6. All the details are amazing! I love the tent and of course, Bozo! With a maiden name like Bouza, I was called Bozo quite a few times over the years:) All of the effort spent on Bozo was well worth it; He's fantastic!
