The Partiologist: Flower Cookies!

Flower Cookies!

Flowers are always a good choice for Mother's Day.  Flower Cookies, however, are a better choice in my honest opinion.  And these are so simple to make, you could whip up a dozen before calling 1-800-FLOWERS!  Almost.  These are the flower's I'm talking about~

Buttercream Flower Cookies

I can guarantee you won't lose any petals, just perhaps the entire flower!

Tied with fluffy tulle makes them even prettier~

So, let's get started, here are the gardening tools needed~

I used the second largest cutter from the Wilton Flower Set.

Baked lots of cookies.

Royal Icing dots for the center.

Mixed up the frosting in the four colors.

Pipe a squiggle line around the edge of the cookie with a Wilton #6 round tip.

Use a firm paint brush and pull down the inside of the squiggle.

Continue with the next layer of petals.

Repeat until you have three layers of petals.

Add a royal icing button to the center.

I now have flowers growing in my Terra Cotta Garden.

    1. Thank you Paula, but the cookie is decorated with buttercream frosting. The little circles in the containers are royal icing dots for the center! I wonder if I COULD decorate them in candy melts...now that's a great idea!

  8. I'm concerned that the buttercream icing will be damaged when packaged. Or does your recipe hardens like royal icing? Could you share your icing recipe if it hardens?

    1. It is a crusting buttercream recipe, it does not completely harden like royal, just has a crust so I can package it. Just send me an e-mail for the recipe I use.
