The Partiologist: Pumpkin Patch Cookies!

Pumpkin Patch Cookies!

You probably guessed when I was making the chocolate covered apple cookies stand, they wouldn't be the last of my standing cookies.  I'm afraid it's only the beginning because I keep coming up with things I can make stand...like these cookies.

Pumpkin Patch Cookies!

Each one of those pumpkins is just sitting in the patch waiting to be picked.

I hope they have better luck than me.  I always hated when we had to pick teams at recess, nobody wanted to pick me.  If they only knew how many cookies I could have given them.

Anyway, back to the pumpkin patch.

Each pumpkin was iced with royal icing and hand painted.

Are you wondering how they're standing?

Sitting on patch of candy melts.

Sprinkled with cookie crumbs.

I added more crumbs to the patch.

Covering up the candy melt mound.

Either way, they make a cute presentation.

I started by crushing broken sugar cookies in my Cuisinart.  You could also use Graham Crackers.

Any size pumpkin cookie cutter will work. I chose three sizes.

Mixed the royal icing with, ivory, orange and the secret color - Copper!

Fill a piping bag with the icing.

Bake and let the cookies cool before decorating.

Begin by piping icing down the center of the cookie.

Let dry.

Go back and add a section to the right and a section to the left of the middle.

Finish with the last section.

Let dry.

Using the secret copper color, dip a food only paintbrush in vodka and then in the lid of the food color.

Brush strokes of color on the pumpkins.

Let dry.

Next roll out brown fondant or modeling chocolate.

Press with the Makins wood grain texture mat.

Use the same cutter for the pumpkins and cut the stem.

Trim the end.

Place the stem on the pumpkin.

Pipe green frosting tendrils down the sides.

Add a few green leaves.

Cut several pieces of parchment paper.

Melt light brown candy melts.

Spoon on the parchment paper.

Over a paper plate, immediately sprinkle with cookie crumbs and set pumpkin in the middle.

Hold in place until firm and in place.

Place all the pumpkins on a cookie sheet to completely dry.

Right after a trip to the pumpkin patch to pick your pumpkin, serve the pumpkin cookies!

Who's the cutest pumpkin in the patch?

Pick Me!
