The Partiologist: Beach Ball Cookie Platter!

Beach Ball Cookie Platter!

Whether you're heading to the beach, pool, or the sprinklers in the yard, I've got cookies just for the occasion.  Yes, anything involving a beach ball is an occasion.  And they are perfect for the guest who says, oh, I'll just have a small bite.  When actually they really want the whole thing.  I mean, who just wants a small bite of anything, unless it's liver?  And then, who would even want a bite?

Beach Ball Cookie Platter!

Anyway, back to the beach ball cookies.

I hand cut several cookies, decorated and assembled them to look like a beach ball.Do you see what I see?

I'm thinking to myself, I want the yellow piece.

It's the biggest.
Since I'm the hostess, I'll let you have it.

And because it's not chocolate... or you would have to fight me for it.

Or maybe we can share?

Each cookie was hand cut with a beach ball template.

Here's how to play ball.  Beach Ball.

Print the beach ball on cardstock and cut into pieces.  Beach Ball Template HERE.

Each piece will be the size of your cookie.

Next, roll out a large piece of sugar cookie dough.
Place on parchment paper and chill the dough for 2 - 3 hours.
(I did not chill my dough, but it would work best if you did.)
Place the beach ball template on the dough.
Cut around each piece with a sharp knife.

Bake the four smaller cookie pieces on one cookie sheet and the three larger cookie pieces on another.

Allowing the larger ones to bake longer.
Bake and set aside.

Mix up all the colors you want in your beach ball.
Outline each cookie and fill the center with royal icing.

  1. What a brilliant way to make a beach ball cookie. I'll take the yellow piece, and the white piece, and the red one. Oh, heck, who am I kidding, I'll take them all, but you can have the liver all for yourself!
