The Partiologist: It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

It's The Great Pumpkin and it's A Great Party! I just love Peanuts and the gang, so when I found the Peanuts Great Pumpkin party supplies at Oriental Trading, I thought it would be a great way to kick off the fall season, taking you right into Halloween!

It's the Great Pumpkin!

No need to go to any work for décor, the Peanuts backdrop was perfect to feature the sweets.

Now for the sweets...

To start off, I decided to make a version of macaroons that could possibly become my favorite,  Coconut Almond Macaroons.  Almond Joy is my favorite candy bar, at least for now.  I followed the recipe I always use for macroons and just added a cup of almonds and a cup of chocolate chips.

And that was just right.

I know, because for the sake of the photo, I had to try them out.

But decided for the sake of my health, they should be wrapped up.

With the adorable Charlie Brown Halloween bags from Oriental Trading!

So simple to make.

Only a few ingredients needed.

After mixing it all up, scoop onto parchment lined cookie sheet and bake.

Once out of the oven, let cool.

Melt additional chocolate and dip the bottom of each macaroon.

Gather up the bags and ribbon and gently place four macaroons in each bag.

Coconut Almond Macaroons

by The Partiologist

Ingredients
  • 14 ounces sweetened flaked coconut
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 extra large egg whites, at room temperature
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup almonds
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • (Additional chocolate for dipping)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
Combine the coconut, condensed milk, and vanilla in a large bowl.
Whip the egg whites and salt on high speed in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment until they make medium-firm peaks.
Add the chocolate chips and almonds.
Carefully fold the egg whites into the coconut mixture.
Drop the batter onto sheet pans lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden brown.
Cool on wire racks.
If desired, dip the bottoms of the cooled macaroon into melted chocolate.

Just in case you want to play games, Peanuts and the gang pencils would be perfect.

And they make a cute party favor too.

They do, don't you think?

You'll find the cutest assortment of pencils from Oriental Trading.

Just bag them up and tie with black ribbon.

Ready and waiting for each guest to take a pack.

What would a party be without cupcakes?

And take a look at the adorable cupcake toppers.

Are they not the cutest?

It was like each cupcake having it's own masquerade party!

Not only are these easy to stick in the cupcake, they are sturdy and BIG!

The cupcakes were gobbled up when lunch was over.

And when I found the pails, I knew I had to have them for the party, but really didn't know what to fill them with.

Then it came to me...

Muddy Buddies.

Mostly because I was hungry for Muddy Buddies.

Anything homemade or store bought would work, because the pails are adorable.

I packaged each one so they could be taken home.

And mainly so I wouldn't snack on the party favors.

As long as I'm packaging, I might as well add pretzels, right?

Not plain pretzels.

I found a simple way to decorate the pretzels to match the sticker.

I decided to use the same sticker on the packages.

So I covered pretzels with melted Wilton green candy melts.

Stirred around until they were all coated.

Spread them out on parchment paper.

Drizzled more green and orange Wilton candy melts over the top.

Finished them off with sprinkles on top.

Divided them between bags, wrapped with an orange ribbon and placed the sticker in the middle.

They became the perfect snack while watching "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown".

Something else I found at Oriental Trading were the photo props.

I loved each one!

Don't wait for the Great Pumpkin, make it happen with Oriental Trading, your Halloween Headquarters!
