The Partiologist: Peppermint Truffles!

Peppermint Truffles!

One of my favorite Christmas combos is peppermint and chocolate.  And I've made my share of peppermint creations in the past, in fact I have pages of blog posts dedicated to PEPPERMINT.  Today I'm adding another addition to the peppermint family.

Peppermint Truffles!

Gingerbread shouldn't have all the fun.

Cute as a cake pop, but so much easier.

You probably love hearing the word easy this time of year, right?

Take a look.

First, find your peppermint wrappers.

I knew I had them, I just didn't know where.  Seriously, it took me longer to find the wrappers than it did to make the truffles.

Next, I crushed the soft peppermint sticks.

After mixing the chocolate truffles, I added a bit of crème de menthe.

Place the mixture in the refrigerator to harden, just enough to handle.

Start forming balls, using a small cookie scoop.

Place the balls into the wrapper and turn upside down into the crushed peppermint.

If you have the energy, find that peppermint tin you know you have and package them up.

Or try a sample or two...or three.  I won't judge.

  1. I love that Cream de Menthe flavoring. It adds a really nice flavor to a chocolate truffle.

  3. I LOVE dark chocolate peppermint bark which is only available during this time of year and these would be a great substitute. Would I use crème de menthe liqueur rather than flavoring in the same quantity? Thanks for sharing this recipe!

  4. These are beautiful but I'm curious why you chose creme de menthe instead of peppermint extract? Thanks

    1. Thank you Jennifer! I just like the softer flavor of crème de menthe, but you could certainly use peppermint extract.
