The Partiologist: Sprinkled Cake Pops!

Sprinkled Cake Pops!

Cake Pops are a great way to celebrate the holidays and they're also a great way to celebrate a birthday.  Today I'm sharing a birthday cake pop idea, simple to make festive with sprinkles and straws.

Birthday Cake Pops!

You see what I did here?  Started the design process by looking in my drawer of straws to see what festive straw could get me started.

You do have a drawer of straws, right?

I wanted something fun, not related to any upcoming holiday.  They are for a special birthday, my daughter's birthday!

The perfect way to celebrate.

So festive, right?

The straws I found were... just perfect.  Here they are, along with the mini paper cups.

Ready to get cake popping?

Start with a cake, baked and cooled.  Trim the edges from the cake and set aside...which really means eat.

Take the remaining cake and crumble into a large bowl.  Begin mixing with a hand mixer, until all the cake is combined.  You may need to add a bit of frosting if your cake is not sticking together.  It will form what looks like dough.

Next form the cake dough into balls.  I love to use my cake pop mold, so I get uniform shapes.

Melt white candy melts in a Wilton melting pot, I love the divided insert which makes for a deep dip.  You may need to add a bit of Wilton EZ Thin, until the candy melts are thin enough to dip the cake pop in.

Insert the end of the straw into the melted candy melts and stick into cake ball and let set.

Dip the cake ball into the candy melts and before it has completely hardened, sprinkle with sprinkle mixture.

Place each cake pop into a paper wrapper and celebrate...

It's a bite sized party!
