The Partiologist: Rice Krispie Treat Easter Basket

Rice Krispie Treat Easter Basket

I've made all kinds of Easter Baskets in my life, but this is the first time I've made Rice Krispie Treat Easter Baskets!  I know, can you believe it, why did I wait so long?  At first I was going to pipe the frosting on with a basket weave tip, but then decided to make it quick and easy.  My imprint rolling pin (I bought for who knows what) came in pretty handy.

What a treat for some bunny special!

Using the embossing rolling pin was much easier than piping on the frosting.

Trust me on this one.

Let's get hopping!

First press the RKT mixture in the small Wilton Round Pans.

Let set and remove.

Roll out a thin piece of fondant. I'll let you choose the color.

Firmly and evenly, roll the embossing pin across the fondant.

Trim the top of the fondant straight across with a pizza cutter.

Place the round RKT on a cake board.

Next, lay the fondant across the middle of the RKT.

Press the fondant down around the sides.

Trim with a pizza cutter.

Using a Wilton Fondant mold, make the handle by pressing the fondant from end to end in the bead cavity.

Remove the excess and lay back in mold making the rope longer.

Add the fondant handle around the top of the RKT.

Make a fondant bow, using a mold.

Add the fondant bow to the top of the handle.

I added the jelly beans to the basket just to see how they looked, you totally don't have to do this step.

Pipe buttercream grass across the top of the basket with a Wilton #233 grass tip.

Add the jelly beans.

Pipe more grass in between the jelly beans using a Wilton #2 round tip.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket.  Two baskets yes, one basket, no.

A Tisket a Tasket, a Rice Krispie Treat Easter Basket!
