I couldn't wait until Monday for this Candy Corn Craft. Remember the day of making a stamp out of a potato? If not, you're in for a treat...or a potato.
Potato Candy Corn Stamp
This is a fun idea that brings back memories of my childhood.
And a good childhood it was. I grew up on a farm and really got to use my imagination.
I dug up some of that farming creativity and decided to make some candy corn stamps.
And now I have a reason to use those four potatoes I bought!
Everyone knows they'll never make it to the dinner table (it just makes me feel like a good wife to even think about making potatoes)!
Really, how hard can it be...I'll wash my potatoes, oh wait, I don't have to, they are already washed and ready to eat.
Did you know that you can buy potatoes that way?
Great idea, maybe I'll stick the other three in the oven.
Then I picked the best potato and sliced it in half.
Lined up my candy corn cookie cutter and pressed it into the potato.
Now for the tricky part - slicing off the outside of the potato without cutting myself.
I shouldn't have to worry about that, most of my knives are pretty dull from all my craft projects!
Here goes.
Now that was easier than I thought.
But I want the three different colors for my stamp.
Let's slice two little strips away to make the three parts of the candy corn.
Gather up your paint, brushes & bags.
I used brown lunch bags so the white on the top would show up.
Paint on the potato.
And stamp away....Oh what fun!
And now I have lots of bags with candy corn stamps on them and a half used potato.
I have an idea for the potato.
Fill with candy and tie with ribbon.
And what about the potato? Oh, I know...if you are having four people for dinner, just cut the stamp part off the potato and throw it in the oven. I'm sure a little paint never hurt anyone.
Love this. I never did it as a kid. I might be too old now but I'll give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteQuestion - do you paint it before each and every stamp?
I was able to stamp it twice before repainting!
ReplyDeleteLOVE THESE. The girls are just going to love doing them. Were doing a skull theme for my oldest daughters class party so I'm go to do those for the popcorn bags and do the candy corn ones for my youngest preschool party. Can't wait to get started. First I have to deliver a cake for a friends birthday. from, twobeautifulgirls
