The Partiologist: Neapolitan Rice Krispie Treats!

Neapolitan Rice Krispie Treats!

Want something sweet?  Something Chocolate? Something Krispie?  Well, I've got the perfect treat for YOU.  The Original Neapolitan Rice Krispie Treat!

Neapolitan Rice Krispie Treats!!
It was only appropriate that I make these little Rice Krispie Treats for the baby shower.  They were perfect for my pink and brown theme, and I love Rice Krispie Treats!

I made them in a bread loaf pan...Three layers of goodness - Chocolate, Plain and Strawberry.  Here's how.
Didn't have Cocoa Krispies - so I added Cocoa to Plain Rice Krispies.
After melting the marshmallows and butter.

I poured it over the chocolate rice krispies and pressed it in a greased loaf pan.  Then I made the plain layer and pressed it on top of the chocolate.

And on top of the plain layer, I made a strawberry layer.

Strawberry Mallows - they are Berry-Licious.

I layered the three flavors together.

Then I popped it out of the pan.
And sliced.
I sliced them in half one more time before serving.  So we could all have more!  And if I were having an ice cream party - I would have added little Popsicle sticks to each.

3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

For the Chocolate Layer

6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Generously spray your loaf pan with cooking spray.

Vanilla Layer - melt the butter in a large pot over medium-low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir continuously until they have melted completely. Quickly stir in the rice cereal until it is completely coated. Pour the mixture into your prepared pan. Spray your hands with cooking spray and then firmly press the marshmallow covered cereal into the pan. Place the pan in the refrigerator.

Chocolate Layer - melt the butter in a large pot over medium-low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir continuously until they have melted completely. Quickly stir in the Cocoa Krispie cereal until it is completely coated. Pour the mixture on top of the vanilla layer in your prepared pan. Again, spray your hands with cooking spray and then firmly press the marshmallow covered cereal into the pan. Place the pan in the refrigerator.

Strawberry Layer - melt the butter &
marshmallows in a large pot over medium-low heat. Quickly stir in the rice cereal until it is completely coated. Pour the mixture on top of the chocolate layer in your prepared pan. Spray your hands with cooking spray and then firmly press the marshmallow covered cereal into the pan. Place the pan in the refrigerator.

When the treats have cooled completely, remove them from the pan. Place them on a cutting board. Then cut each large slice into smaller squares.

  7. Just saw this on FB through SugarBelle. I made these for my daughter's Neapolitan Bday party, they are in the freezer waiting. Oh darn, I had to eat the "scraps" that I cut from the edges. I also used CHOCOLATE 'mallows for the chocolate layer (& chocolate krispies,)added 1/2 tsp vanilla to the vanilla layer and 1/2 tsp strawberry extract to the sberry layer. WAY good!

  15. I just made these for a bake sale! Instead of the strawberry marshmellow I used 1/3 cup of strawberry milk mix and they turned out great! I also used chocolate milk powder for the chocolate layer!

  16. What size pan did you use? I'm intending to make these for my birthday but the measurements seem rather large for the size pan I'm gonna use so I need to know which you pan size you used by Tuesday, July 12th (if possible) to see if I need to make a quantity adjustment to the recipe.

    1. I used the large size bread loaf pan and I think it made two pans. It's been so long, I may have to remake the RKT bars and repost! :)

  17. Love this idea. I'd like to tweak it for a Star Wars themed party and swap the pink for green. I've never added food coloring to RKT. Would a paste change the consistency of the mix or do you think it would still be okay? Thank you for your input ;)

    1. Thanks Jen! I think it would work fine with a food color paste, just add it to the marshmallow mixture and stir before adding the rice Krispie treats.
