While everyone else is seeing green with St. Patrick's Day ideas...
I'm seeing Pink, Brown and White!
Havin' a baby?...I will travel! Yes, my neice is having a baby girl and lives two hours away. So I decided to have a "Dessert Buffet" baby shower in her town at the home of my sister.
Neapolitan Baby Shower
While they look simple enough- they were NOT! I have a cricut machine and had another idea in mind. I started with the first idea - which was a bad idea and three days later and a pile of scrap book paper I decided to start over. So another trip to Joann's for more paper. Then another trip to Joann's for more envelopes and cardstock. They were finally ready to be mailed. Neapolitan Baby Shower
Yes, I punched three circles and glue them on each invitation!
I guess what I'm trying to say is...if you see some cute invitations - BUY THEM! If they are expensive - BUY THEM! If they aren't in your theme - BUY THEM and change your theme!
Now I didn't have near as much trouble with the baby cookies. I made this special cookie for the Guest of Honor - Evie.
The little dipped marshmallows were so simple to make.
Another fabulous idea were pink mini donuts.
Which I drizzled with frosting & sanding sugar.
Donut Go Anywhere!
Oh this post made me laugh out loud! I love the complete honesty and hilarity of the shower planning gone wrong! The cookies are exquisite as always and I love the idea of the dipped marshmallows with sprinkles. A shame they tasted terrible...what was the taste like? Can't wait to see more details!
ReplyDeleteNot sure, after my daughter said they were terrible, I decided not to waste the calories! :)
DeleteYou are so funny! You may have a few strikes along the way but I know you will end up with a grand slam!!!
ReplyDeleteI too love, like me, you show us your flops. I do that too over on Fizzy Party, because hey, we ALL have party flops. Everything looked super cute though :)
ReplyDeleteLove. Especially the min pink donuts...
ReplyDelete"BUY THEM...and change your theme." Ha ha ha ha ha! I love it! And the best part is that you probably mean it! I, for one, think your invitations are AMAZING! And of course that gorgeous umbrella cookie!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful Aunt you are! Everything looks gorgeous! Love those mini-donuts!
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting that the cookies were easier than the invites! Everything looked excellent to me, but I bet you learned a lot and will do even better next time!
ReplyDeleteI wish my "strikes" looked as good as yours! Still, those cookies make up for anything! I especially love the scripted love cookie!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement! :)
Deletewell look at this fun blog that I LOVE...going to get COZY and stay for awhile here that is for sure! Good stuff I say and Congrats on winning sweet of the week drawing at the decorated cookie blog - that way I found ya!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks! I'm so glad you love my blog and can stay for awhile! :)
DeleteOnce again you have outdone yourself. I am patiently waiting to buy your book. But, before it comes out, may I ask you if most of your cookies are frosted with a buttercream type frosting? Was there ever a post where you shared your recipe?
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with your decorating and I'd like to try my hand at some of your simpler ideas....for example, the simple big Easter Egg that is plain and sugared. Is that frosted first with a creamy frosting or with that hard Royal Frosting? Thanks for all you do.
Lexy - thanks so much for your comment! A book someday would be great huh?? I have not shared my decorating technique....yet! Stay tuned!! :)
DeleteYou come up with the best ideas ever! The invitations are so adorable, but wow they sound like a ton of work! As far as the marshmallow taste, could it be from the pink food coloring? You know how reds and pinks can get that icky better taste? Just a thought!
