Why not start the day with Soda Shop Cake Pops? I made these for the 50's themed birthday party - however, they would be the perfect summertime treat for ANY party!

Not exactly sure how I was going to make them into a cake pop, I came up with an idea...and it worked. I will admit, a lot of the time I have an idea, it does NOT work!
Since I didn't show you how to make the cookies, I feel I owe it to you to show you how to make the soda shop cake pops. Besides the fact that you take the time to read my blog - and I love you for that!
So let's get started - Soda Shop Cake Pops!
I baked the white cake in the Wilton brownie mold pan.
After the cakes are baked, remove them from the pan and cool.
Dip the stick in the melted pink chocolate and then into the cake pop.
Dip the entire cake pop in the pink candy melts. Right before it sets, sprinkle with pink sanding sugar.
Okay, now for the part that worked!
I wasn't quite sure how to make the base for the "soda glass" and this is what I came up with. I poured a little candy melts into my plastic paint pallet. Stuck them in the freezer for a bit and low and behold, they popped right out. I couldn't believe my eyes - did you hear me??? They popped right out! Sorry, I was just very happy. Then I got out the sticks I would be using and measured what size needed to be cut through the candy base. Luckily I had this handy dandy little round plunger cutter that was just the right size.
Carefully, I twisted the cutter through the candy melt base. Pulled it out and there you have it! Ready to add to the bottom of the cake pops. I drizzled a little melted pink chocolate to the bottom of the cake pop and slid the base up the stick. Held it to the base until it was stuck like glue!
On to the decorating part. I needed straws. Tiny straws. I had purchased colored lollipop sticks that had the perfect color pink. I pulled out a couple of sticks and cut them into thirds.
Then pipe on white buttercream frosting in little swirls onto the top of the cake pop - to look like whipped cream. As soon as you finish the entire top - add white sprinkles and a red sixlet for the cherry on top.
There...you did it!
Just in case you baked lots of pops, which I did, I came up with another way to incorporate them into the 50's theme. Poodle Skirt Cake Pops!
I do believe they fall into the cake pop category because there is a stick involved.

Let's get started...
Use the same Wilton brownie pan and bake the pops. I placed each cake pop on a doily.
After the cake pops are baked and cooled, add a little dab of frosting to coat the pop.
Roll and cut turquoise fondant in a circle.
Roll black fondant 1/4 inch thick and use the end of a large decorating top to cut in a circle.
Using the same small round plunger cutter I used for the Soda Shop Cake Pops, cut a circle out of the middle. Making room for the cake pop stick.
Gently lay the turquoise fondant over the center of the cake pop.
Smooth down to form a skirt.
Add the micro mini poodle (I found this mold years ago on etsy). It was a little time consuming to get the poodle out of the mold, but I did it! Just brush a little water to the back of the poodle and stick to the skirt.
Add the leash by piping white icing with a #1 decorating tip.
Add a little more icing to the top and place the black circle fondant for the belt.
Time to add the cake pop stick and a gingham ribbon for décor.

These little skirts had a ways to travel, so I needed to figure out a way to keep them safe and sound. And it WORKED! I knew there was a reason I am an organized hoarder of all things useless. I wash save the take out containers - and because I'm always creating, not cooking, we have a lot of containers. So they made the perfect travel container.
First, I cut the lid off the container. Then I placed two cake pops in the container and laid the lid on the top of the sticks to mark. I poked two holes through the top with my letter opener and lined up the cake pops and slid the top on. (The ribbon needed to slide down and can be moved up after they are removed from the container!)
Another reason not to cook!

DeleteGreat use of the tiny round plunger tool. I'll have to keep that trick in mind for the future. Both of your pops are wonderful. The poodle skirt is my favorite. So 50's!
