The Partiologist: Chocolate Shapes Cookie Puzzle!

Chocolate Shapes Cookie Puzzle!

The Back to school party has ended, and now it's time to do a little teaching.  With something chocolate and fun.  Really, who wouldn't want to learn their shapes with an edible puzzle?

Cookie Puzzle

And it really works!

And if you know of someone who needs to learn their shapes, I think this will do the trick.
But first I need to teach you how to make the puzzle!

Bake your favorite chocolate sugar cookie recipe.  I used Lila Loa's found HERE
Roll on parchment paper and cut into a 5 x 7 rectangle (or any desired size)
Place the parchment paper on a baking sheet and bake.

While it is baking (or before you roll and cut) gather the shapes you wish to use and make sure they fit on the size cookie you have cut.

As soon as it comes out of the oven - cut the small shapes out of the large cookie.  (Do this as soon as possible, before the cookie hardens or it will crack).

Remove the shapes from the baked cookie.

Use the same mini shape cookie cutters and roll and cut fondant in six colors/shapes.
Add a little royal icing on the back of each piece of fondant and top each matching cookie.
Roll a small piece of the colored fondant to make the little knob.
Attach knob with royal icing to each colored shape.
Attach cookie puzzle with royal icing to a white paper covered cardboard rectangle.
If you like, add colors to the inside of the shapes with a marker.

Add the colored shape puzzle pieces.

Add paper shred to a small box (BRP) and top with the puzzle.

Now it's ready to give...or eat!

What shape are you?  I'm the green square...

 It's Hip to be Square!

  9. Wow! Those images are so much touching my heart I can't explain. Though I am no more a kid who would like to play, but if I get to eat them I will be luckier than any kid in this world.
