The Partiologist: Maple Leaf Cupcakes!

Maple Leaf Cupcakes!

I don't know about you, but I am not ready for fall.  Because you know what fall means...Winter is right around the corner.  But let's not jump ahead of ourselves, it's only August.  Now that I think about it, it's almost September!  YIKES!  I thought it would be good to ease into the season with maple leaf cupcakes, I mean DIY maple leaf cupcakes.

Maple Leaf Cupcakes

And these fall leaf cupcakes don't require any raking, just baking.

Actually, you don't need to do any baking, you could always pick up a dozen from the bakery, make the toppers and you will be the smartest leaf on the tree.

By making the fondant leaves ahead of time, they will hold their shape.

Let's get down to business.

I started with yellow fondant and added a tiny (less than a drop) of brown food color.  In fact, I would recommend using a toothpick until you get the right color.

By adding just a tiny bit of brown food color to orange, yellow and green fondant, I had the perfect shades for fall.

Or you can order all the colors from the link below.

Next, roll the fondant and cut a maple leaf with a plunger cutter.

Lay the leaf on a curved flower drying tray, (first dusted with powdered sugar).

It's almost sweater weather...ALMOST!
