The Partiologist: Yule Log Cupcakes

Yule Log Cupcakes

Did you have a chance to make a Yule Log this Christmas?  Maybe it was on your list and either you ran out of time or chickened out.  Don't worry, you can make Yule Log Cupcakes.  They're just perfect for any festive party!

Yule Log Cupcakes

Seriously, aren't they fun, not to mention delicious and easy.

If you've ever made a Yule Log, you believe me when I say I wouldn't ever call it easy.

These are cupcakes on the other hand, are easy.

They are filled with the yule log filling and topped with whipped ganache.

Oh, don't forget the holly topped chocolate tree stump.

Let's get started.

Make your chocolate tree stumps.

Using this mold makes it super simple.

Melt chocolate candy melts in Wilton Candy Decorating bag.

Cut the tip and fill the mold with chocolate.

Freeze until firm and remove chocolate from mold.

After they are made, paint the edge with Karo syrup and sprinkle with sanding sugar.

Make the holly out of fondant with a holly leaf plunger cutter.

Cut one leaf off.

Paint a little Karo to the back side of the fondant and place on the chocolate tree stump.

Add a red candy dragees for the berry.

Now for the cupcakes.

All you need to do is start with your favorite chocolate cupcake recipe and bake.

(I used a dark chocolate cupcake recipe).

While the cupcakes are cooling, make the filling.

After it is made, add the cream filling and add to a pastry bag.

Do NOT use the gluten free Yule Log recipe for the cupcakes.

Take the cupcake and core the center with a knife.

Fill the center with the cream filling.

Add the cupcake core to the top.

After making the ganache, let it cool then whip it until smooth and creamy.

Add a swirl of whipped ganache to the top.

Top with chocolate tree stump.

Have a Cool Yule!
