What do you do when it's cold and snowing and you're in the mood for spring? I don't know about you, but immediately after Christmas I want spring. And in Colorado it sometimes feels like spring in January. You'll see 60 degrees one day and then the next day it's snowing and a -11 degrees, just to remind me it's NOT spring. So to satisfy my spring craving, I decided to make shimmering trees decorated with snowflakes.
Snowflake Trees
Just what I needed to warm up.
It almost worked, it was sunny and looked warm, despite the snow on the ground and the fact that it is still only 10 degrees.
Here's how.
I started with six tree shaped cookies.
Flooded the top with royal icing in six colors.
Sprayed the entire cookie with a pearl sheen, using my airbrush.
Next I used a snowflake stencil and sprayed the cookie with white airbrush color.
I decided to add wafer paper snowflakes.
Using a sheet of wafer paper, I punched out several snowflake shapes.
I put two of the snowflake shapes together by adding a dab of water to the center of one snowflake and sticking it to another.
Add two dots of royal icing to the tree and add the wafer paper snowflakes.
Top each snowflake with a white shimmer pearl.
And add another snowflake!
Before you know it, it will be spring. Just kidding, it's going to be cold for a long time.
No need to sugar coat it, right?
These are adorable! Almost too pretty to eat. Pinning and sharing.
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you so much!
DeleteThose trees are simply beautiful. I just love them! God made you so creative...and I am thankful to get to see your designs!!! I will dream of making these and maybe SOMEDAY I’ll give it a try 😊
ReplyDeleteYou're so sweet, thank you! I do hope someday you give them a try!
DeleteI love the dimensional appeal of these snowflake cookies. What a clever idea you came up with to use a picture punch to achieve this special effect and then to add even more dimension and more appeal with candy pearls. I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, I'm so happy you love them! :)
DeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you Beth!
DeleteYour shimmering trees are just lovely!! What a beautiful state you live in..even though I've only seen it in photos!
ReplyDeleteWe get the same kind of unpredictable weather in Georgia. It is 77 degrees today!
For sure, Colorado is a beautiful (but sometimes very cold) state and I feel like I'm on vacation everyday! Someday you'll have to visit. :)
