The Partiologist: Back to School Cupcakes

Back to School Cupcakes

These little cupcakes just about didn't make it to the blog, they took time and I wish I had done a better job.  I'm going to show them to you anyway.  I had some flat marshmallows left from another project, so I decided to make them into little books.  Problem is, the marshmallows were not completely flat, so the books were curved.  And that my friends makes me crazy.   Not any more, my loyal follower Jean pointed out that the most loved books are curved!

Back to School Cupcakes

Just in case you get a bag of the flat marshmallows, here's how I made them.

Rectangles cutters may be purchased HERE.

Clay embossing set may be purchased at Michael's.

First press the ABC or 123 into the fondant.

Then cut the fondant with the cutter positioning the letters or numbers in the upper right of the rectangle.

Paint the fondant with water and wrap around the marshmallow.

Now your books are ready.

To place on top of the cupcake!

My kind of homework!  ABC, easy as 123...

  1. I totally understand your fixation on having perfect looking edibles, but these books are fantastic even with a few curves and I'm glad you posted them! Aren't the embossing letters so fun to use? I love them and just used them to make some fudge tombstones for Halloween. I have lots of plans to use them on more edible projects.

I'm going to share your books on my Hungry Happenings Facebook page today.

  6. They're great. I can't imagine you not posting them because the books are curved. But as your friend said, not only are most loved books curved, but if you think about the theme of them being 'back to school', school books at the end of the year have lots of stuck in papers and clippings and being transported all the time are in fact curved and beated. So, in my eyes, these are perfectly realistic!
