The Partiologist: Popcorn!

Popcorn!

Can you believe all the ideas for popcorn? In it's own little corner. It looks like a few gourmet chocolate covered strawberries snuck in.  Only because I had some matching paper cups.

If you like, here's the recipe.  If you don't like...scroll down.

RECIPE

1 1/3 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1/2 cup Karo light corn syrup
1 gallon popped corn
2/3 cup toasted pecans
1 1/3 cup toasted almonds or walnuts

Combine sugar, butter and corn syrup in 2 qt. sauce pan.
Bring to boil over medium heat stirring constantly.
Continue boiling, stirring occasionally 10 - 15 minutes or until the mixture turns a light caramel color (290 degrees).  Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
Pour syrup over popped corn and nuts on baking sheet.
Toss until popped corn and nuts are coated.
Spread out to dry.
Break into pieces and store in tightly covered container or plastic bags.
 Makes 1 3/4 lbs.

Supplies.
Line boxes with bags.
Fill bags with popcorn.
Tie with little ribbon.

Now that the Crazy Crunch Caramel Corn is out of the way...
How about some Popcorn Sugar Cookies?

Here's the how to~

Take a mini flower cutter and squish it.
Cut out cream fondant (Duff White).
Pipe around the edges and write Popcorn on each piece.
Start with one stripe down the middle in dark red using #46 tip.
Add cream stripes on each side.
Repeat until the base is covered.
Clean the top with spatula (or really you wouldn't have to, I just like making extra work for myself).
Pipe on different sizes of cream popcorn dots.
Let the frosting dry and brush on yellow shimmer dust for the butter.

  5. What a great way to "POP" start the weekend! I have seen several popcorn parties on Pinterest lately. They have popcorn bars where you can decorate and flavor your own popcorn. The Popcorn bars are amazing but I would rather have one of your popcorn cookies!!
