I had a party planned for today, but things change. And while I'll still show the party, today I'm showing you a new technique for decorating cookies. The very and I mean VERY talented ARTY MCGOO was at the Cookie Con as a presenter. She paints on cookies you know, like little canvases. You could even hang them on a wall like art. So she inspired me to get out a paint brush, Wilton color paste and my little paint pallet.
These are my first painted cookies!
Since you really can't paint on butter cream, I cut out white fondant into three shapes and painted away.
And of course I added non-edible accents! Here's a little glimpse of the process~
Cut, baked and frosted three rectangle cookies.
Using designs from some of my favorite Christmas hand towels, I drew cookie versions and cut the design out of fondant.
I painted the fondant before placing it on the cookie. Dip your brush in water then food color paste and blot on paper towel. The cookie is your canvas!
While I was in art mode, I decided to make Merry Christmas cookies.
This is a one of a kind set, they took waay to long. Click on the photo and you'll see more of the detail!
This week is going to be stuffed full of Christmas cookies
.
Just like I was on Thanksgiving.
Got Milk?

ReplyDeleteYour 'Merry Christmas' cookies are amazing, love them. How are you going to display them? I also love Arty McGoo's cookies, I've been meaning to try painting some cookies too. Cookie Con sounds like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteLove the painted cookies and the Merry Christmas cookies. What brand of letter cutters did you use? Looking forward to more decorated Christmas cookies. Kathy
ReplyDeleteThank you! I used the Wilton cutters from a long time ago. I think they still make them.
DeleteThanks Kim. One more thing - what color/brand of red did you use to get that beautiful shade of red. I have so much trouble achieving a true red on my icing. Kathy
ReplyDeleteI usually use the Wilton Red Red. Hope this helps!
DeleteHey Kim. Did you use the letters from the Wilton 101 piece cutter set with that comes with an assortment of other cuters or the 50 piece set that its just letters and numbers. Thank you. Kathy
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I used the cutters from the 50 piece set (I don't have the packaging anymore).
