The Partiologist: National Cherry Month!

National Cherry Month!

I was beyond thrilled to find out that February is National Cherry Month.  Not only because I LOVE cherries, but because I did a post last year with some fun cherry treats.  I have had the Flu this week and feeling lousy, so my Valentine posts have suffered too.  Just in case you may have missed the cherries the first time around, here's your chance to view them again!

Cheery Cherries!

Here I made cookies and cake balls!

The striped cookies with cherries were made with the mold from Martha~

Using red and green fondant with a mold, I made some cherries to put on square scalloped sugar cookies.

Keeping it simple, I went with a black and white background.

Then I remembered that I had a cherry cookie cutter too. So on with more cookies~

Bake your cherries.

Frost with basket weave tip.

Cut cherries out of fondant (Measure your cookie) with round metal cutter.

Using a smaller cutter, press a small curve in the cookie.

Make the fondant stem with a clay gun.

Measure and put on the cookie.

Add leaves.

Sprinkle with sanding sugar and add bow.

Okay, I may have left out a few photos. Sorry.

Now here's where I should have stopped.

Well, they were a bit time consuming, but I like them. And you will too.

I used some plastic stems from plastic cherries.

Pulled them out of the plastic and stuck them into the cake balls.
I used both single stems and double stems. After placing all the stems in the cake balls, put them in the freezer before dipping into red candy melts. Before the candy melts harden, add red sanding sugar to the cake balls.

Life is Like a Plate Of Cherries!

But I didn't stop there. No I Didn't. I remembered I had some long stemmed maraschino cherries.

  Why not dip those?

And sprinkled the tops with red non pareils and placed in black paper cups.

And I think Cherry Cupcakes would be great too!

Simple enough to make and eat too.

So simple I had time to take a few photos!

Emphasis on the word FEW!

Last I made some cherry suckers. Without the stick...yea, so I guess you could call them cherry disks.

 My Cherry Tree~

I've always been a sucker for cherries.

And gummy candy.

After finding the bag of cherry gummies (lost the photo) I decided to do an experiment.

And it worked, sort of. If I had to do it over again, I would have left the sucker clear so the gummy cherries would have shown up better.

Here's a little step by step~

Used Wilton Cherry Candy Flavor.

Sprayed Whoopee Pie Pan with Pam.

Placed Cherries in each cavity.

Made the candy according to directions on bottle.

Poured the piping hot candy over the cherries and HOPED they didn't melt!

Then I punched red round circles and glued to green ribbon.

Packaged them up!

Now don't you think it's time for you to go pick a few cherries?

I could go on and on, only I need to make time for Strawberry Season! CHERRIES...they're always in season!
