The Partiologist: Push Pups!

Push Pups!

It could be dog years until I finish up with all the puppy treats.  I hope you'll show me some puppy love and hang in there, or you'll be in the dog house for sure!  I had an idea for push pops pups.
Are you ready for a girls best friend?

Push Pups!

M is for Max!
There are several steps in making these, and the steps are easy.
So if you want...here they are~
I needed something for the party hat - so I started with a Dixie Cup.
Put it on the push pop to measure.
Trimmed it to fit.
Opened the Dixie cup for the template.
Paw Print scrap book paper for the hat.
Trace and cut around the template on the back side of the paper.
Notice, I added a little to the end where I would need to fold and glue.
Fold it up, ready to glue to the other end.
After you've glued the ends together to make the pointed hat,
it's time to add a rim and topper.
Measure black pipe cleaners to fit around the bottom and hot glue.
Then hot glue a black pom pom to the top of the hat.
Now, let's make some ears!
I used the largest of the two tear drops from the punch.
(Or you could hand cut.)
Hot glued the ears to the underneath side of the hat.
Then I glued the hat on the lid of the push pop.
For the nose, I cut hearts out of red cardstock and trimmed the end.
Hot glued another pom pom to the trimmed end of the heart.
Then hot glued the nose and googly eyes to the push pop.
(oops no photo)
For the collar, I added metal charms to black ribbon.
Glued the ribbon together on the back side of the push pup.

Did I happen to mention that there were ALOT of steps?

Here they are ready and waiting~
I had to get Max off the counter before the guests arrived!
Another view~
For the filling, I decided upon using a cake pop mixture.  This way, EACH bite was a bit of cake AND frosting with a little more frosting on the top!

Ahh, the Dog Days of Summer!

  4. Everything so far has been so cute! Can't wait for more.
What do you have them sitting in? I can just imagine adding paws, legs and a tail to the bottom - more work for you - just what you didn't need.

  12. Am I the only weird one in that I'm not sure if this party is really for the dogs or is this a people party with a dog theme? I'm sorry...I think I can eat everything you've shown so far....

    1. Oh, you're not weird at all - most of my guests had to be told NOT to bring their dog! (I addressed their invitations to "The Owner Of". I don't know if you saw the first post with the invitation, but I had this paw-ty for my ceramic dog Maxine! Yes, just an excuse to have a dog themed party for my people friends!

    2. Yes, I knew about Maxine....I guess I didn't check out the invitation too closely. I laughed out loud when I read you had to tell your guests NOT to bring their dog......too funny.
Keep up the great creative parties.

  14. No one but you would be so clever to think of using a Dixie Cup for the push pop dogs! Great idea and it makes me think - Dixie Cup hats for a Christmas elf, Santa, anyone who might wear a pointy hat. When you've inspired people to stretch their imagination, you've done something special.

You're definitely getting me on the push-pop parade now that I see what creative things can be done with them.

Will have to look for those paw print metal circles for the collar. Or - I guess if I can't find them I could make them out of cardstock.

Love your ideas AND the doggy puns as someone else already mentioned.
