The Partiologist: Pumpkin Spice Cake!

Pumpkin Spice Cake!

YIKES!  Why didn't someone remind me Thanksgiving is almost here?  Like in four days almost here.  Thankfully I'm not doing the cooking, just the baking.  I won't even tell you about the time I made a turkey, you can only imagine.
Anyway, this is what I baked, a Pumpkin Spice Cake.  I love this cake, but haven't made it for a long long time.  I decided it was time to bring back the spice!
Pumpkin Spice Cake!
This is probably the best Pumpkin Spice Cake I've ever made, even though it's the only one I've ever made, I've been told it's the BEST!

After purchasing the pumpkin shaped pan, I really needed to get some use out of it.  Which means I should make this cake every year, not just once every five years.

Now that it's made, I thought you might like to make one too.

This recipe has LOTS and LOTS of ingredients, but it's worth every minute of adding each ingredient!
Recipe from Williams Sonoma HERE.
This is the pan I invested in several years ago.  Cute huh?
Spray the inside with Baker's Joy or use butter and flour.
Pour in the cake mixture and bake according to directions.
Remove from oven and cool.
Once the cake has cooled, remove from pan.
Turn the cakes over and slice off the little dome, so the cakes fit snuggly on top of each other.
Place the cakes together.
Mix up a batch of cream cheese frosting and color with orange food color.
Use a tootsie roll for the stem.
Warm the cream cheese frosting and pour over the cake, letting it drizzle down the sides.
Top with the tootsie roll.
I decided to make the decorations out of fondant.
You could always just use frosting to make it simple.
I cut out several leaves with the plunger cutter.
Made the curls with my clay gun and wrapped them around a wooden spoon and let dry.
Once the curls have dried, place them on the top of the cake.
Add leaves wherever the leaves would go, or to cover up mistakes.
Show up with this cake and I'm pretty sure your name will be added to their Christmas List.
Pumpkin...It's the Spice of Life!
