The Partiologist: Pina Colada Cake Balls!

Pina Colada Cake Balls!

If you like Pina Colada's, getting caught in the rain...I could go on, but I think you get the picture.  When I found this recipe online, I couldn't wait to give it a try.  I waited with high hopes...it was just what I looked for, I knew in an instant...I loved Pina Colada Cake Balls.

Pina Colada Cake Balls

Have you seen the little pipette filled with liquor to insert into cupcakes, strawberries, etc?

When I first saw this idea, I wanted to insert pipettes into everything I created.

It wasn't until now that I found the perfect pairing.

Coconut Cake Balls with Malibu Rum Filled Pipettes.

I have to admit, filling the pipette was a little trickier than I thought.

Thankfully, my daughter was home to save the day and prevent me from having a hangover.

If it wasn't for her, I would have drank the Malibu rum and ate the cake balls.

Once they were filled, I sealed the end of the pipette with a dab of candy melts, to prevent the rum from evaporating.

So, you're thinking you want to escape?

Well, head on over to Pint Sized Baker for the recipe.

A sneak peek!

It's the coconut love that I've looked for...

Come with me and escape!

  1. Your comment about inserting the rum made me laugh so hard! Years ago I decided to inject hollow chocolate balls with liquor. They sold the chocolate balls (filled with liquor) at the German Fest in Miami and went like hot cakes. Thinking they would be the perfect Christmas idea for our Swedish friend sounded like a great idea. Only thing is I don't drink so didn't know how much to insert. Going with the "more is better" philosophy I filled them with all type of liquor, foil color coding each chocolate ball to match the liquor.

Always quick witted, Dagmar commented on how "unique" her box of chocolate/liquor delights were. She then, politely, suggested next time a little less liquor in each. Who knew? I offered to take back the chocolate & try again. "Oh no - too late for that - I have one every night and they're almost gone. I just make sure I'm sitting on my bed when I have one so when I pass out, at least I'm already in bed. I've never slept better".

I'm laughing now just thinking about it and am glad to know someone else doesn't know the potency of liquor either.

Your recipe sounds good and with so many parties now serving buffet style, this would be just the right thing to bring!
