The Partiologist: S'mores Bars

S'mores Bars

Today's post wasn't planned, but after making these S'mores Bars, it soon became part of the plan.  You know it has to be good for me to venture away from the plan.

S'mores Bars

It's no riddle, they really are Ooey, Gooey, Stickey, Chewy S'mores Bars!

Here's why it became part of the plan.  I needed a dessert, something to grab and eat with your hands.  I've only made these S'mores Bars a few times over the past couple years and decided it was time to get sticky again.

And just in case you need something for memorial day weekend, they are perfect!

Now I'm wondering why I don't make these more often.

Oh, now I remember, I want to eat the entire pan.

But I won't...

Okay, maybe just one...or three.

Here, you can eat one too.

Press 1/2 of the bar mixture into the bottom of an 8" x 8" pan.

Top with Hershey's bars.

Spread JET-PUFFED Marshmallow Crème on the Hershey bars.

Piece remaining bar mixture on top of the Crème.

Bake.

Completely Cool and remove from pan.

Cut into 16 squares.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 5 - full size Hershey candy bars (1.55 oz. each)
  • 1- 7 ounce jar JET-PUFFED Marshmallow Crème
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 Degrees F.

Grease and flour an 8" square baking pan. (I used Baker's Joy)

In medium mixing bowl, cream butter with brown and white sugar.

Add egg, vanilla and mix.

Whisk together the flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder and salt in small bowl.

Add to butter mixture and mix until combined.

Divide the dough in half.

Press half of the dough in the bottom of the pan.

Top the dough with the Hershey bars.

Spread the marshmallow crème on top of the Hershey bars.

(Use a dampened spatula, it helps the marshmallow not to stick)

Flatten the remaining dough into pieces and add to the top of the marshmallow crème.

Bake for 30 - 35 minutes until lightly browned.

Cool and cut into 16 bars.

Now, you tell me, could you eat just one?
