The Partiologist: Edible Emoji's!

Edible Emoji's!

Emoji's, don't you love 'em? There is pretty much an Emoji for every emotion.  So when I made the mini Emoji cakes, I have to say I felt every one of those emotions in the past week.  Okay, let's make it in the past day.

I was wearing shades when I made the cakes, they're so cool.  Insert wink Emoji.

Mini Emoji Cakes

So let me show you how easy they are to make.

I don't want any sad faces.
When I found the cutters (Michaels) with imprint on one side, I knew what to do.

How could anyone not buy these?

Start by rolling out a piece of candy clay or fondant.

What's candy clay you ask?  It's a alternative to fondant and tastes like chocolate because it's made from candy melts and karo syrup.

Yep, two ingredients!

It is so easy and tastes so good, I think you'll be surprised.

Plus, my friend Beth of Hungry Happenings wrote an e-book with every question answered for making candy clay.

For more information and to purchase the Candy Clay e-book, click HERE.

Press the imprint side of the cutter into the candy clay (or fondant).

Lift off the cutter and turn it over and cut the circle.

The candy clay toppers will work for cookies, brownies, Rice Krispie treats, anything you like.

I decided to use a brownie mix and follow the cake like instructions.

I used the cutter and cut the cake like brownies into circles.

After pressing and cutting each candy clay circle, place on top of cake like brownie.

Fill each indentation with royal icing, using a scribe tool or toothpick, filling to the edge.

Ingredients
  • 1 12 oz. package Wilton Candy Melts (or any chocolate)
  • 1/4 cup Karo syrup
Instructions
Melt Candy Melts in microwave, half power at 30 second intervals, stirring until melted.
Let the Candy Melts cool to 91 degrees F.
Immediately fold in the Karo syrup until combined.
Pour onto plastic wrap and seal.
Let set until it becomes slightly firm.
Roll and cut into shapes.
I was thinking of you when I made the heart eyes!

And why the sad face?  Well, let's just say my first Emoji idea didn't work out so great.

I'm usually smiling, laughing at my own jokes because my family doesn't think I'm that funny.

So much fun, what emotions are you feeling?
