Today I'm talking about the PYO Cookie. Are you wondering what is a PYO Cookie? Don't feel bad, for quite awhile I didn't know what that meant, so I'm here to tell you and you'll never be left in the dark again. PYO means Paint Your Own Cookie! Yes, it's like a coloring page, only on a cookie and you can eat the page. They've been around for awhile and it took me a longer while to create them. Now I'm thinking, what have I been waiting for?
PYO Cookie!
It's the great idea of Montreal Confections. Be sure to check out all her other creations!
I found my PYO stencils at The Cookie Countess HERE.
And packaging them makes the perfect filler for your Easter Basket!
I decided they're even cuter with the paint brush tied on!
Oh... I just came up with another idea for the PYO cookie, hope I have time to make it before Easter!
Here's how it all came together.
Remember, you can click on the photos above to enlarge!
Before baking the cookies, make the royal icing dots.
Paint one coat of gel food color on each dot and let dry.
Go back and paint another coat of food color.
Continue until all the food color dots are painted and set aside until completely dry.
Bake the rectangle cookies, making sure the stencil will fit.
Make an indentation across the bottom BEFORE baking.
Flood the cookie with royal icing, let it dry overnight.
Lay the stencil on the cookie and using an offset spatula, spread on black royal icing.
Carefully lift the stencil straight up.
Pipe royal icing dots to the bottom of the cookie and add the painted dots.
Then I decided I should probably make sure it works.
And it DID!
Remember that idea I mentioned?
Once I finished painting the cookie, I got to thinking...what if I made a PYO Peep Cookie?
So, I had to do it.
It's perfect for the little artist, so easy to paint!
Paint Your Own Cookie...I know you want to!
