The Partiologist: Sweater Weather!

Sweater Weather!

Well, it's almost here. Okay, it's actually here...Sweater Weather! At least it is in Colorado. And it's my daughter's favorite time of year, not only because sweater weather, but mostly because soon it will be snowy and cold. Her favorite! So with that in mind I decided to have a full on birthday party to celebrate some of her favorite things...

S'mores, Mountains and Sweater Weather!

I know what you're thinking, that's a lot of desserts for five adults. But seriously, can you ever have too many desserts? If I had more time, there are a couple more desserts that would have gone with my party theme.

The cake was the main dessert. A S'mores cake. Complete with a marshmallow fluff frosting and toasted marshmallows on top.

The S'more cake was the dessert we ate after dinner and the rest were packaged up and sent home. I individually packaged most of the desserts so that they could be frozen and enjoyed throughout the month.

The little forest of trees was the perfect backdrop for the desserts. They were cut with my Cricut and taped to the wooden board I use for EVERYTHING.

Along with the giant pinecones on the side. So happy I kept those stored away for 15 years.

And because it was a birthday celebration, I made fondant topped Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars. Sweater detail and button on the fondant, but could be easily removed before eating. I mean who wants to ruin their chocolate peanut butter bar with fondant?

And the S'mores popcorn...Drizzled with chocolate, graham cracker crumbs and chunks and mini marshmallows.

And warm winter sweaters, or should I say chocolate winter sweaters.

A big oversized chocolate sweater. The kind I am going to need by the end of the year if I keep making desserts.

Not as big, but just as warm were the sweater imprint cookies made with a animal cracker cookie recipe, a recipe I just LOVE for making all kinds of shapes. Not just animals.

And the snow capped mountains cake pops were fun to make. Well, sorta.

Because every party I host seems to have some sort of RKT, these were chocolate covered, tree topped, sugar dusted RKT. Weird.

The S'more truffles were so yummy. Ganache, mini marshmallows, graham cracker chunks and then rolled in graham cracker crumbs.

I even had the table all decked out with the theme.

I just happened to have plates with trees. Oh, in case you're wondering why the little cups? I made French dip sandwiches. Yep, I know it's a shock but I cooked, not just baked.

Right now near Fort Collins, the largest wildfire in Colorado history is burning and I am so thankful for the firefighters and pray for their safety while they battle the blaze, hoping the forecast of snow and cold will give them a hand.

Who do you know that loves sweater weather, mountains and s'mores? Grab your sweater, you'll have mountains of fun!

  1. Once again you knocked it out of the park with all your amazing desserts. Your table looks beautiful too. I do hope the fire does not get near your beautiful home. Be safe!

  2. It's been so long since i've been here to see your seriously cute sweets and as usual everything is IMPECCABLE! What a gorgeous looking cake ..and well..everything! I didn't know that you live in Colorado. MY husband and I have visited twice and loved it! We went to Rocky Mountain National Park this summer and it was beautiful. Praying everyone stays safe and the snow will help. I think October is the perfect month for birthdays with the cooler weather..even here down south! My son and my grandson both have birthdays this month. :)
