The Partiologist: Fault Line Christmas Cake!

Fault Line Christmas Cake!

Today I'm sharing the cake I made for our family Christmas 2019. I know Christmas 2020 is so different but looking back, this makes me happy, hopeful and thankful.

It's time to start thinking about your Christmas dinner don't you think? I'm usually planning in July, but thought you might find it annoying if I told you to start planning then, right? But now it should be okay, I'm mean I'm hearing Christmas carols and seeing decorations. Not just in the stores, but in homes. Like my home. Yes, I'm one of those that decorate as soon as the last piece of Halloween candy is handed out. And this year I couldn't wait to get out all of my decorations!

Today it's all about silver and red, including the cake.
The silver and red Fault Line Christmas cake of 2019.

Fault Line Christmas Cake

I've seen so many beautiful fault line cakes over the years and decided it was time to give it a try. And not only try, but succeed as this was to be the dessert for our Christmas dinner.

The trees were made of red fondant, rolled and cut by hand. Left to dry until hard and would hold their shape. Then I added candy melts to the edge and dipped in a silver and red sprinkle mix I created just for the cake.

On the back of each tree, I added a little more candy melt and a small dowel rod. Once solid, they were ready to stick into the cake.

After making the cake, I wanted to have a special plate to serve it on.

So I drizzled more candy melts on the plate and sprinkled more sprinkles. Sprinkles make everything better.

It's looked so pretty and festive on our table.

This cake was so delicious, I think I had a slice for breakfast every day until it was gone. Well, it was actually lunch, because I usually am up at 4:00 a.m. so I figure by 9:00 it's really lunch.

So, if you're wanting to make a fault line cake, this is the year. You'll have to google how to make one, I didn't make a tutorial, because really is anyone even reading? LOL

I just realized I started the blog party with the dessert...hmmm

Stay tuned for more silvery sparkle!
