The Partiologist: 12 Cupcakes of Christmas!

12 Cupcakes of Christmas!

Yep! You read correct...12 as in TWELVE cupcakes of Christmas. In my head this was a very good idea. But in reality...well let's take a look.

12 Cupcakes of Christmas!

A few years ago, I thought who wouldn't want to serve a cupcake that would suit everyone's appetite? At least that's what I thought.

So I spent hours, searching and finding the perfect cupcake recipe and frosting recipe to coordinate. Like more than hours, like days.

Then I sketched out all of the cupcakes and toppers I would make. Making sure I had a variety. Through the process, some of the flavors and toppers changed.

I compiled my 3 ring binder recipe book. (Just in case you're wondering, that recipe binder is available for $500) LOL

Then I started making the toppers.

Yes, ALL the toppers were made by hand from fondant and chocolate with tiny molds. Some of the molds I've had for years and some were recently purchased.

After I finally found all the recipes I wanted to try, both old and new I started baking.

Baking. And baking. And baking.

It was then I realized it wasn't such a good idea after all.

My days were spent mixing and baking and molding, Not to mention the time it took to make the tag. I spent more days than hours making the perfect tag.

The front of the tag was printed with all the flavors and the back of the tag, To and From.

Oh and did I mention, I changed the snowflake cupcake to coconut? You'll notice in additional photos.

And the perfect box to display them in!

The box was big enough that the toppers didn't get smashed when I closed the lid.

To make it festive, I added the tag with a jolly red ribbon.

Now I'm thinking you might want to see each of the flavors?

Up first - The Coconut Cupcake with Coconut Frosting.

Now you can't go wrong with a Snickerdoodle Cupcake and Brown Sugar Cinnamon Frosting. Plus it's topped with a big red bow.

One of my favorites was the Gingerbread Cupcake with Maple Cinnamon Frosting.

This little cupcake was lit up with a fondant Christmas light! It was the Cranberry Orange Cupcake with Orange Cream Cheese Frosting.

Another favorite was the Peppermint Mocha Cupcake with Peppermint Mocha Frosting and topped with mini marshmallows and a candy cane straw.

Who wants warm and cozy? The the Chocolate Cupcake with Chocolate Frosting is for you, topped with a handmade edible mitten!

Possibly my favorite was the Yule Log Cupcake! And the most complicated. It was filled with a homemade whipped cream filling, topped with whipped ganache and topped with a handmade, sugar coated, holly topped chocolate log. YUM

For those who like vanilla, I have the cupcake for you. And a family favorite, the French Vanilla Cupcake with French Vanilla Buttercream. Of course I tinted the buttercream green for the tree.

What started as a French Vanilla Cupcake ended up being a Creme de Menthe Cupcake. Forgot to update my photos.

Next flavor of the batch was the Eggnog Cupcake with Eggnog Frosting, topped with holly!

And I didn't forget Rudolf. This was a Peanut Butter Cupcake with Peanut Butter Frosting. Yes, handmade fondant antlers. Don't ask how...or why.

Talk about a Christmas favorite. This little snowman was a Red Velvet Cupcake with Cream Cheese frosting.

So there you have it. TWELVE Cupcakes of Christmas. And just a little heads up, maybe do Four Cupcakes of Christmas. I mean who would miss the other eight?

Tell me, what would your favorite be? Did I include it? I sure hope so, because you can bet there won't be 24 Cupcakes of Christmas in my near future.
Or will there? No. A BIG FAT NO.

Merry Christmas!

  1. Amazing! Flavor-wise, I'd choose the Yule Log Cupcake, but design-wise, I like the snowman! They are all so cute and delicious, I am sure.
