The Partiologist: Mickey Mouse Cake!

Mickey Mouse Cake!

I really don't know if you're ready for another post full of Disney, I've got my fingers crossed that you'll come along and enjoy the ride.  Remember... you must remain seated until the ride has come to a complete stop.  Usually I try and save the best for last, only I can't wait any longer to show you the Disney Party Table I designed for my sister.

Disney Party Table!

The center of attention...

The tiered dessert stand was several glass cake plates, stacked one on top of another.

I decorated bulletin board trim with tiny cutouts I made with my Cricut and a button punch, then I glued the bulletin board trim around four sizes of cake boards (12", 10", 8" & 6").

Each trimmed cake board fit perfectly on top of the glass cake plates.

Starting with the top layer - The Giant Mickey Mouse Cupcake!

Right below the giant cupcake were the Fairy Tale Triple Chocolate Truffles~

Below the truffles were the Big Thunder Banana Streusel Muffins~

And the Philharmonic Honey Nut Chex Mix~

Centered right between two mouse ear topped curtains with button tie backs!

I made the curtains out of long, long strips of red fabric.

I actually measured my windows and got the length long enough.

Usually my measurements don't add up, this time they did.

Then I cup big black mouse ears out of black foam board and glued a paper garland around the edges.

Here's a closer look at the ears...

And the button, which was a plastic plate with four black circles added for the holes.

And the tablecloth...a shower curtain with ribbon tied on~

And the Disney sign...

And in case you're wondering about the Giant Cupcake?

Not really, but there is a tutorial without photos.  I accidentally deleted all the tutorial photos and I haven't been able to get them back.  For now, just a written tutorial.  So sorry!

Start by making your Rice Krispie Treats.

Spray a large cupcake pan with Pam and fill the pan with the RKT.

Refrigerate until firm and remove the RKT from the pan.

Pipe frosting around the sides of the cake and smooth with spatula.

Roll out red fondant and cut into strips with a #4 strip cutter.

Start adding red strips to the side of the cake and leave enough to tuck under.

Top with round cake board and turn over.

After the cake is turned over lay the strips down around the top.

Take the top of the RKT, lightly cover with frosting and top with yellow fondant.

Make a yellow rope trim and wrap around the cake. (No Photos - OOOPS, my bad!)

Cut out ears to fit the cake out of cardstock.

Then roll out black fondant and cut, using the cardstock as your pattern.

Add toothpicks to the back of the ears with black candy melts, let set until solid and add to the cake!

Now it's ready to be the center of attention.

And speaking of attention, I've run out of it.

So I'll save the rest of the treats for the next blog post, when I'll get up close and personal with each treat on the table!  Until then...

Have a Magical Day!
