The Partiologist: Gingerbread Themed Sugar Cookies!

Gingerbread Themed Sugar Cookies!

What...You don't like Gingerbread?  Could it even be possible?  I haven't met a single person who doesn't like gingerbread but I can imagine there might be.  And I don't want them left out of the gingerbread festivities going on this week so I created something just for them.

A Gingerbread Man and a Gingerbread House Sugar Cookie.  If I lived in a Gingerbread house, this would be the one I would want to live in.  It's all one level and has a fireplace.

Gingerbread Themed Sugar Cookies!

They have the look of gingerbread, just not the taste.

Perfect for that one person in the world who doesn't like gingerbread.

I'm just hoping they like sugar cookies.

If not, you probably shouldn't be friends with them.  Wink!

Or perhaps you're in need of a couple designs for your sugar cookie collection, I've got you covered.

So here's the cute tute.

Bake your gingerbread men and gingerbread house cookies.

Cool.

Mix a batch of buttercream frosting and color with AmeriColor warm brown.

Fill a pastry bag with a #48 basket weave decorating tip.

Pipe lines of frosting across the cookie, starting at the bottom of the house.

After the cookie is covered with frosting, clean the edges with an off set spatula.

More info on the decorating can be found HERE.

I found the tiny candy canes at the dollar store.

They also come in red and green, which after the cookie was decorated, I decided to switch it to the red and green.  You know, so I could make more work for myself.

I'm telling you now, to use red and green candy canes cuz you'll like it better.

Next slice green gumdrops in half.

After the cookie is frosted, add the green half gum drop to the sides of the house.

Add the candy cane next to the gumdrops.

With a #18 star tip, swirl white butter cream frosting across the top of the chimney.

Practice on the counter with the swirls.

Then add swirls across the top of the roof of the cookie, you know, like snow!

Sprinkle the white with coarse sanding sugar.

To make it sparkle, because snow sparkles.

Now it's starting to get late and I'm not done.

Sorry about all the shadows, but once I start a project, I don't want to wait until morning to finish.

Anyway, with a #2 round tip, add loops under the swirls.

Then add a few dots between the loops.

Next, press a tiny round cutter to mark where the wreath goes.

If you can pipe a nice round circle, you can skip this step.

Notice, this is where I decided to switch the candy canes to red and green.

With the #18 star tip, pipe red stars around the circle and add red dragees for the berries.

And a tiny bow at the bottom.

Seriously, is anyone even reading this?

Of course every gingerbread house needs a door.

A red fondant wood grain door.  So roll out the fondant and press a wood grain impression mat into the fondant and cut in an oval like shape.

With my teensy tiny bow mold, I made the bow for the wreath.

Then I added a few red dragees with a tweezers.  Yes, I have a kitchen tweezers, every kitchen should not be without!

Then I packaged and tied them up with red and green rick rack.

Oh, I forgot all about the gingerbread man.

By now it's waaaay to dark to get any photos of the decorating process.

It's basically the same as the house, only it's not, because it's a man.

I packaged him up just the same, tied with red and green rick rack.

From my Gingerbread House to Yours...

Merry Christmas!

    1. The buttercream gets a crust, but doesn't get totally hard like royal icing. You can let them set overnight and package them the next day. Thanks for reading!! :) Send me your e-mail for your "reward"! ThePartiologist@hotmail.com

  8. I read every word. Perfect for the cookies I need to bring Christmas to a church fellowship after service. I was considering gingerbread cookies but had a nagging feeling that perhaps it wasn't a flavor liked by all...and then I read your post.Perfect and very doable. Who doesn't enjoy a sugar cookie especially ones so adorable. I don't like fondant though.Maybe I could cut one out of fruit leather or just use frosting.Love your posts. You are so full of amazing ideas.
