I know you're probably thinking, the cake would be red and black check inside, truly that was the plan. But I was really wanting a chocolate cake. Like for me. Because after the dinner, I knew there would be leftovers and I would be the one to eat them. Day by day, slice by slice. And I wanted chocolate. Then I found a beautiful cake online I wanted to recreate.
Woodland Christmas Cake!
This beautiful cake design was created by The Cake Girls and you can find the step by step tutorial HERE.
This is my take on the cake, perfect to fit my woodland theme.I was able to make the tree bark ahead of time, so when the cake was ready, the bark was ready to place on the sides.
And I always love a project where you can make parts ahead of time.
The chocolate frosting was actually a peanut butter and chocolate swirl.
Perfect to showcase the sugared cranberries.
It was topped with a simple sprig of sugar dusted rosemary and sugared cranberries, making a beautiful holly design.
Couldn't wait until I could showcase it on my island.
But I was even more excited to cut into it!
But first...when you have a special cake, you need a special serving plate.
Which I created here with Merry written in white chocolate and fondant holly. Writing on the plate with white chocolate could be done a couple of days before needed.
Serving it up with a scoop of ice cream, you could say we were Merry.
And I was Merry for several days after. I sliced the leftovers into pieces and wrapped each in saran wrap. Placed them all in the freezer so I could enjoy the cake piece by piece, slice by slice.
The cake is gorgeous and I love how you piped "Merry" on the dessert plates. What a perfect way to serve a delicious slice of cake.
ReplyDeleteThank you, it is always fun to dress up the dessert plates, especially when you can do it up ahead of time! :)
