The Partiologist: Hawaiian Themed Cake & Cupcakes!

Hawaiian Themed Cake & Cupcakes!

Something that always gives me a bit of anxiety is the cake. I mean if I mess up a cookie I can just eat it and start over. But seriously, if I mess up a cake, I would want to eat the cake and start over. I can't confirm nor deny that has ever happened.

Sweet 16 Hawaiian Themed Cake!

I was pleasantly surprised when I didn't have to eat the cake. Because I really loved the way it turned out. However, by the time of the party, the center sunk a little and so did my heart. But, why do I have to tell you that? Maybe you can feel my pain?

Before making the cake, I went to the tropics (meaning listening to Hawaiian music) while I shopped (online) for the hibiscus, leaf and bamboo molds. After spending way to long looking, I found just what I was looking for and was happy I took the time. I mean who doesn't want to spend a few days in the tropics?

On the top of the cake and in the front, I added bamboo, hibiscus flowers and tropical Sweet 16 sugar cookies. Iced in red and airbrushed with a hibiscus pattern.

I was going to make a tutorial, but decided this would take too much time. Maybe I'll make an e-pamphlet for you to buy and download. $200.00 😂 Because that is how much work this cake was. Is there even such a thing as an e-pamphlet?

This was just one of the desserts for the table. You know the other table full of desserts?

The bamboo turned out just as I had planned.

Just another day in paradise serving up coconut cupcakes!

Served in a coconut shell, topped with a hibiscus paper umbrella.

Propped in front of beach huts along with a couple palm trees.

Seriously coconutty.

I'm in a tropical state of mind.

  1. I can totally relate! Making cakes is so much more stressful. I know the relief you feel when it turns out just as you wanted. I'm sure your party guests didn't notice it sunk in the middle. They had to have been so impressed by the amazing decorations.

    1. I tried not to point out the sunken center, so I don't think they noticed. LOL I was happy with the way it turned out, thanks!!
