The Partiologist: Staycation!

Staycation!

I really can't believe how fast this summer has gone, and according to my calendar (not the weather) summer vacations will be over and everyone will be back to school.  Which made me think...Oh no, I haven't gone on a summer vacation yet, so I went to get into my little vacation stash and it was gone.  I mean it was spent, spent on party stuff, so no vacation for me.

Staycation!

But that didn't stop me from having a little fun!!  This past weekend my hubby and I went on a staycation.  And you wonder, what does this have to do with parties - well, while on staycation, I shopped for party stuff!!!!!!!!

While everyone was out traveling the world (I have friends and family that went to Africa, England, Alaska, Hawaii, Jamaica, Napa and Canada) we hopped in the car and drove 25 minutes to Old Town Fort Collins.  We even had a loaner car since my car was getting serviced, so it really felt like we had rented a car for vacation.  I put on my best capri's (at least the best ones that I could zip and still breath at the same time) and even wore a new top.  I looked hot....and I mean hot - it was 93 degrees out!

On the way to Old Town, I noticed several out of state license plates, so I guess I wasn't the only one vacationing in Colorado! It really is beautiful here and I picked up some postcards to send to my friends!

And yes, I really did send them!!  My husband thought I was plain old nuts, which maybe I am, so I wasn't offended.

First, we had lunch on the patio at Cooper Smiths~

And of course, we had umbrella's...no, not in our drinks-over the tables!
Then we walked up and down stopping in several of my favorite shops!
It has everything you can imagine for your kitchen and then some, plus I came out with a few party ideas.  Since we were on staycation, I came out with a little chocolate too!
Next stop was the Perennial Gardener.

This place is just great for gardening and home decor! (And you know how I LOVE to garden - hee hee)  They have small water fountains, statues and such.  Then I walked through to the attached shop called Sense of Place, which has even more home decor! There are lots of other unique little shops to browse around in and it was just plain fun!!! Now if my husband had a blog, his version of the day might be different!

Well, it really was a good trip - no packing, no unpacking, no airport security, no lines and we were home in our own little bed by the end of the day.  And what Great day it was!

P.S.  Here's another reason I love Staycationing in Colorado...
At first I thought we were being taken over by aliens when this big shadow came over my house - I ran to look out the window for some little green men but instead saw this.

This gorgeous hot air balloon landed in the space next to our home.

Then I watched as they let all the hot air out...

Almost finished~

I hope you all have had a great Vacation or even a little Staycation!

  1. Sometimes "staycations" are the best...here in AZ you can stay at some of the 5 star resorts on the cheap during the summer. Some of them have great water parks, you need them since the temps are usually hovering around 110 degrees!

Glad you had a great time!

As far as grand kids go...you really should get you a couple...they are a blast to spoil and then send home to their parents!
